Reactivity / Anxiety Training

What we call reactivity is often an expression of anxiety. Everything must be approached incrementally.

What is Reactivity?

Our dogs express with body language a spectrum of behaviours. With mild anxiety, we might observe what are called displacement behaviours such as yawning, stretching, scratching, or lip licking, and shaking off when not wet. Usually these behaviours help our dogs to cope with their triggers.
Reactivity/anxiety therapy helps our dog out by giving them more options than their fear response. We reward attention to you and swap out big feelings for confidence.

Our Training Approach

If we are training and our dog is stressed, you might find he suddenly has no interest in the treat that was of a high enough value at home, but now is being ignored. You need to break through this barrier by increasing the treat value or practicing in an intermediate environment.
Even more pronounced levels of anxiety may be seen as barking, lunging, pulling on leash or even what might look like aggression. And on the other end of the spectrum, shying, hiding, fleeing and hand-shyness.
We give your dog more control over their environment by having them focus on you when a trigger appears.

Our Reactivity / Anxiety Training program is 100% personalized and uses only positive reinforcement techniques for lifelong success.

"Claire was so professional from the get go. She is so patient and prepared with whatever Benito threw her way. I especially loved how personalized our sessions were and how conscious she was in making sure we were getting the most out of our sessions. Amazing follow ups and tools for both of us to succeed! I cannot explain how much working with her has helped us with finally enjoying our walks together."
